A fin seal brings the film's inside sealant surfaces together and leaves a raised back fin. A lap seal overlaps one web edge over the other for a flatter back profile, but the overlapping surfaces must have suitable sealant compatibility. The right choice depends on the film structure, package appearance, forming set, sealing jaws, and an approved line trial.
